Bear's Den Grenora ND 701-694-6915

Frank and Pam

Meet Bear's Dens Alexis Silver "Lexi"..C.E.R.F:Passed...

Lexi is a laid back Mellow girl, she is the only one of our Akita's that will bark , she will only do it when someone is intruding on her property, that includes rabbits , coons, skunks, cats, and other ppl or other vehicles and she knows the sound of our vehicles, She is our tell all. She has a fantastic personality and is only affectionate to Mom and Dad. She tollerates others when they come around. She is not mean to ppl at all .. But not overly polite to them either. She is very well mannered and a little hard headed at times but learns fast and listens to commands well.

                                Meet Roxi and Bear

                             BOTH  C.E.R.F CLEARED

This is the sire Bear's Den was named after, He does rule the roost around here, he is into tracking and hunting. He is a good guard dog and very protective of Me and Dad, although he is a Dad's Boy. He will follow frank anywhere and if he don't see him will find his scent to find him.... He likes to take the rest of the canine family off on a little trot once in awhile so we have them tied up when he is out and about. He is very well mannered and will not let anyone out of there vehicles when we are not in the yard. If we are home he is fine, this is something we did not have to teach him but has been doing since he was a pup. He has never bitten anyone, but has certainly warned them, Very Territorial.

Roxi was a friends of ours and she could no longer take care of her or give her the home she needed, Roxi is a smart and loving little girl, she is playful yet and very gentle, She likes walks and digging in the dirt. She is not much into hunting and tracking and really does not like baths. Her temperment is Mellow and Gentle. If you are wondering why she is on a leash it is because Bear likes to take them off into the fields and come home without them, He tests each and everyone one of them if given the chance. We have had Roxi now for 3 Years and she is just the sweetest loving girl you could ever have. She loves to sleep at the end of the bed while Bear finds the Linolium in the kitchen even in the winter.

Meet Lacota Bear  "call name Koda"

Cota is a ready for a run, she say come on already it is time to go, she loves going for runs and rides. We are farmers and try to take turns with them in the vehicles with us, she is the baby out of the Akita's and she is certainly spoiled, she now knows how to walk on the leash with out pulling or getting ahead of me, she will walk with me at my side, she is well trained and well mannered, we are still working on the jumping up on you when you go to her. She is the daughter To Roxi and Bear's first litter in Dec 2005, She reminds me alot of her dad's temperment with the hunting and tracking and she is good at it, she was taught by the best DAD... We fell in love with her and decided we wanted to keep her with us. She has been a wonderful addition to our family.

UpDate: Lacota is no longer the baby of the family, We have now 3 New Additions to our females but she is not worried because she is still so spoiled. She no longer has to have the leash also ..She will walk right beside me just as she did when she was being taught on the leash, she is always looking up to watch and see what I am going to do. She is so eager to please and obey. I do still let her go tracking in the tree rows but not with Bear anymore, He took off with her when she was just a pup and came home and didn't bring her home. We were out searching for her when we seen her going up the hill on the other side of the coulee and called out to her when she heard us calling she turned and came running down toward us and I was watching in the binnoculars while Frank was calling for her I then seen a Coyote run back down after her. I heard a yelp and Said Oh No Frank, He yelled and took off running and Me being a dummy took the truck and tryed to jump the creek with water flowing in it and got stuck. Then it was off on foot ..We didn't find her and I was an emotional mess. We looked for about another 1/2 hr when Frank carrying rocks for protection decided to walk home for the shotgun and me back to the truck cause the Coyotes were a howling and circling us. Frank went and  got the shot gun and the pickup to pull the other truck out and came and got me. Pulled the truck out and I went home to see if she might have run back there. Well when I got there Roxi was out in the Front Yard and low and Behold who was there but Lacota. Snuggled just as close to mom and scared to death. We checked her over she was going to be alright but she was caught by the tail by the coyote. She had a bite mark so we took her in to the vet and they cleaned it and gave her some antibiotics and wrapped her tail. She was current on all her shots and her rabies so he said we should have nothing to worry about just keeping it cleaned.  Although we are so thankful that was all that happened We are also saddened by her losing her beautiful Curl.

I am going to post a picture so you can see what it curls like now... This is not the greatest picture but it does show her tail. Alot of times you will see her with her tail down.. Or straight up.. But she is still our girl and we are just thankful she is still here for us to enjoy ...if you look close you can see right where she was bitten..About Just where the first curl starts to curl.

Meet Natalee's Misty Rainbow " MISTY"

Misty is totally a blessing to this household. She is great with the grandchildren she just has the natural instinct of loving children alot. She will sit right by them for hrs. They can climb on her and she just does not mind at all.

She is good with commands but I have found my normal way of working with my dogs is not good with her, I have been using alot of different techniques with her. She is not one to be taught using restraints "A leash" .. She is very easy to teach. And hasn't shown alot of stubborn streak as of yet.. Although she is only a year old..

We got Misty From a breeder in Montana, Just a fantastic Lady with some Awesome Akita's .. I was trying to find a breeder that would stud one of there males. My gosh when I got ahold of her she had said that she didn't stud. I told her my predicament with Lacota going into her second heat and I didn't have a Male but Bear and Bear was daddy so that wouldn't work .Well come to find out She was the one that Had Bear's Grandparents. So she said she would let me breed with her Champion sired male. Well we paid Handsomely for the Breeding plus Drove Across Montana to leave my baby there and then back to get her to find out she didn't take. Well I called the breeder and told her that she didn't take and she said we could bring her back. Well we had decided against that since it was so darn far and she said that we could have a female from one of her Litters. So 1 Year and 1 Month later along with my grand daughter we were on our way to go and pick up our girl Misty. I fell in love with her from the start. Natalee "My Granddaughter"  has Named her and now claims her for her own. So all and all She will be Natalee's Misty Rainbow.

Meet Bear's Den's Snow Angel  "Snow Girl"

                                          Snow& Pedigree

We have just gotten Snow from Big Tex Kennel she is 20 Months old ..She also has fantastic Bloodlines from the Crown Royal linage. Which I really wanted to Incorporate that into my Champion lines... I will be doing more research as time goes on..  The Kennel owners were not going to be breeding anymore and wanted to find homes for them. We also picked up her son with her which you will see on the page for the males. I was on a Quest for my White Akita.. I have always wanted a white Akita every since I was introduced to the Akita Breed by my Husband. He has had Akita's for 15 Years now and thats all he will own anymore.

Although she was a kennel dog and also not used to the house and potty training we are starting to figure things out slowly, It is always a challenge getting dogs when they are older because not only do you have rules of your household it is a challenge for them to learn them as well as it is for you to teach them. I have found it is the consistancy and the fact that they know I am Alpha here, That is the first thing that I establish with any of my dogs. From there it is all up hill. It is a bond or relationship built with my dogs and myself that help me in my training techniques. I will keep everyone posted on her achievements as she is accomplishing them. What I have seen with her temperment Positive or Negative. She does like to use her nose, I have caught her nose in the air a few times so far. Ears erect and Nose in the air in the direction the wind is blowing, All new scents to her here that she didn't have down there..
